What is the Victim Offender Mediation Program (VOM)?

This is a restorative justice court diversion program offered in partnership with the Department of Juvenile Justice. A VOM provides the victims of juvenile crime the opportunity to have a structured face-to-face meeting with their juvenile offender in a secure, safe environment, in order to facilitate a process of healing and restitution.

Who makes referrals for VOM?

Typically, the Department of Juvenile Justice refers cases for mediation.

Victims may also request cases go to mediation.

Parents may request participation in the program. Cases will be reviewed and considered by the NJC in conjunction with the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Can adults participate in VOM?

On a case-by-case basis, the NJC will accept adult cases, post adjudication.

Requests for mediation should come from the victim or victim's family.

How much does the program cost?

There is no charge for VOM Program.
