Tomilynn Clark, Mrs. Nevada America 2023, brings something special to pageant competition; she  is a CASA volunteer who advocates for abused and neglected children. She won the title of Mrs. Nevada 2023, earlier this year. Her platform for the pageant called Ceilings, promotes the CASA Program.

Tomilynn  became a CASA volunteer nearly two years ago, and has been pouring her heart and her energy into the program ever since. She has made it her mission to talk about the CASA program and recruit new volunteers at every given opportunity.  She is also working toward becoming a volunteer peer coordinator, which is a coach/mentor for newly trained volunteers.

“I have chosen pageantry to lift my voice for what is important to me,” said Tomilynn Clark. “As a result of me being raised in foster care for the first seven years of my life, and living in 16 different homes, I personally understand what it feels like to be disposable and abandoned. Because I have been so fortunate to beat the odds, I feel it’s my obligation to prevent children from going through that type of trauma or to at least minimize the harm.”

On August 26, Tomilynn is competing for the national crown of Mrs. America. The Mrs. Nevada competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Nevada in the Mrs. America competition. People from across the country can vote for their favorite contestant https://mrsamerica.com/delegates-2023-2/ Tomilynn is using her platform to help children in need and the hope is that she will take it to the next level as Mrs. America – CASA volunteer.

The Eighth Judicial District Court CASA program recruits, screens, trains and supports volunteers to represent the best interests of foster children in Clark County. The advocates represent the children in school, child and family team meetings, and in court. Volunteering for the program involves a two-year commitment and a willingness to spend quality time with the children to advocate for them. Those who are interested can learn more at one of the many monthly online orientations by visiting www.casalasvegas.org and signing up to attend. Potential volunteers can also call the CASA program at 702-455-CASA for more information.
