Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)

The ADR Office is located at 330 S. Third St., #1060, in Downtown Las Vegas. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

In implementing various forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), Clark County’s Eighth Judicial District Court has opened several doors in the “multi-door” courthouse through which participants can pass in order to resolve civil disputes through means other than traditional costly, lengthy and protracted trials.  ADR seeks to fulfill the District Court’s mission of providing innovative, efficient and fair equal access to justice.

Presently, the Eighth Judicial District Court offers the following forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR):

Arbitration is a process whereby a neutral third person, called an arbitrator, considers the facts and arguments presented by the parties and renders a decision.  Arbitration is an adversarial, typically non-binding procedure.  For more information, rules and forms on Arbitration, click here.

Mediation is a process whereby a neutral third person, called a mediator, acts to encourage and facilitate the resolution of a dispute between two or more parties.  It is an informal and non-adversarial process of helping the disputing parties reach a mutually acceptable and voluntary agreement.  For more information, rules and forms on Mediation, click here.

Short Trial Program is a substantive program providing expedited civil trials (jury and non-jury) through procedures designed to control the length of the trial, including, without limitation, restrictions on discovery, the use of smaller juries, and time limits for presentation of evidence.  For more information, rules and forms on the Short Trial Program, click here.

All forms of ADR are administered by the ADR Office, which can be reached by calling (702) 671-4493.
