Two Investiture Ceremonies Usher In A Wave Of New Judicial Talent At Nevada’s Busiest Court
Eight new District Court judges will launch the New Year by pronouncing their judicial oath to uphold justice in our community. In front of family, friends and fellow jurists, the newly elected judges will take their oath in one of two investiture ceremonies to be held at the Clark County Government Center at 500 Grand Central Parkway. At the first investiture ceremony on Jan. 2 at 2 p.m., Judges William “Bill” Kephart, Jim Crockett, Linda Marquis and Denise L. Gentile will take their oath. On Jan. 9 at 2 p.m., Judges Richard Scotti, Rebecca L. Burton, Rena G. Hughes and Lisa M. Brown will pronounce their oath.
During the ceremonies, the new District Court judges will receive their judicial robe and swear to support, protect and defend the constitution and government of the United States, and constitution and government of the state of Nevada , against all enemies domestic or foreign, and will bear true faith, allegiance and loyalty to the same, any ordinance, resolution or law of any state notwithstanding, and will well and faithfully perform all the duties of the office of judge of the Eighth Judicial District Court. Their term is six years.
The new judges will serve in courtrooms in one of three buildings:
•tDept. 2 Judge Richard Scotti will serve in the Phoenix Bldg. 11th floor courtroom with a civil docket.
•tDept. 19 Judge William “Bill” Kephart will serve in the Regional Justice Center courtroom 3E with civil/criminal docket.
•tDept. 24 Judge Jim Crockett will serve in the Phoenix Bldg. 11th floor courtroom with a civil docket.
•tDept. B Linda Marquis will serve at Family Court in courtroom 7.
•tDept. C Rebecca L. Burton will serve at Family Court in courtroom 8.
•tDept. F Denise L. Gentile will serve at Family Court in courtroom 3.
•tDept. J Rena G. Hughes will serve at Family Court in courtroom 4.
•tDept. T Lisa M. Brown will serve at Family Court in courtroom 5.
